DO YOU SPEAK INUKTITUT?
We are looking for fluent Inuktitut speakers for a couple of hours of work now and then. If you are living in Toronto, or even if you are visiting just for a few days, give us a call or e-mail. It's very easy work. We just ask simple questions.
RESEARCH PROJECTS
- Inuktitut Project: Provides Inuktitut language teaching materials and includes information on the syllabary and the language. It also hosts the Labrador Inuttitut Community Grammar webpage.
- The Utkuhiksalingmiutut Dictionary Project: A postbase dictionary of the Utkuiksalingmiutut dialect of Inuktitut, once spoken in the Utkuhiksalik area of Nunavut, and now spoken mainly by elders in Uqsuqtuuq (Gjoa Haven) and Qamani'tuaq (Baker Lake). This project is based on the lifetime work of anthropologist Jean Briggs (Memorial University).
- Information On Inuktitut: In this page you will find my ongoing efforts to put practical language and linguistic information about Inuktitut on-line for the use of Inuit and interested individuals.
- I also work on Language Health, which involves language maintenance and revitalization.
